Two people remain in critical condition while a driver in police custody following a 2-vehicle car crash in San Antonio’s Northwest Side early Thursday morning, San Antonio Police said.
The crash occurred just after midnight in the 7200 block of Wurzbach Road, near Babcock Road and close to the Medical Center area.
According to SAPD, a red Ford Focus was leaving a McDonald’s or Shell station when it was t-boned by a Nissan Rogue. Emergency crews had to entirely cut off a door to the SUV to safely rescue three passengers inside the vehicle.
A 38-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman were immediately taken to University Hospital and are in critical condition this morning. The driver and passenger of the Nissan Rogue were also taken to the hospital, both suffering from critical injuries.
Investigators report that the driver of the Nissan admitted to having been consuming alcoholic beverages and was evaluated for intoxication, and will now be charged with DWI.
