Pedestrian dies after hit-and-run collision in NE El Paso

EL PASO, TX — A 48-year-old woman was killed late Saturday night when she was hit by a vehicle in northeast El Paso’s Dolphin neighborhood, reports KTSM.

The fatal incident occurred in the 9500 block of McCombs Street, east of Irving High School, at about 10:05 p.m.

According to the El Paso Police Department, the woman was crossing the road when she was struck by a maroon four-door Mitsubishi Galant. The car is believed to be a model from 2004-2014 and should have front-right corner damage and a missing right-side mirror.

Surveillance footage shows the Mitsubishi was speeding at the time of the crash. The vehicle was last seen heading southbound on McCombs Street.

Officials noted the woman was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the crash, and that the area had been dark.

No further updates have been released at this time.

An investigation and search for the suspect is being handled by the EPPD’s Special Traffic Investigators (STI).
