Motorcyclist killed in chain-reaction crash on I-10 near east El Paso
EL PASO, TX — A 67-year-old man died Friday after his motorcycle was involved in a multi-vehicle wreck on Interstate 10 near east El Paso, reports KTSM.
El Paso Police Department responded to the scene on the eastbound interstate at Lee Trevino Drive. The crash was first reported by KTSM at 6:07 p.m.
A preliminary investigation shows an eastbound driver in a 2018 Dodge Charger came to a sudden stop in the left lane as they approached traffic congestion, causing the Dodge to be hit in the back by a 2017 Hyundai Elantra.
Officials said the victim, who was riding a 2001 BMW R11 motorcycle in the same lane, rear-ended a 2022 Nissan Rogue. The impact of the crash sent the rider off his bike and into the next lane. Moments later, he was run over by a tractor-trailer.
The victim, a Horizon City resident, was rushed to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
