Man dies after May pedestrian crash in far east El Paso

EL PASO, TX — A man has died nearly a month after being hit by a car on Tuesday, May 10, while outside a vehicle in far east El Paso, reports KTSM.

The incident occurred in the 1100 block of North Americas Avenue shortly before 10:00 p.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates a Pontiac Grand Am was stalled on the road. The victim, who was a passenger in the car, was standing behind the vehicle when he was hit by a Hyundai Elantra driven by a 22-year-old man.

The victim was rushed to Del Sol Medical Center. On June 6, nearly a month later, he died from his injuries, confirmed the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Special Traffic Investigators (STI) with the El Paso Police Department said they were not notified about his death until June 14.

No further details have been shared at this time.
