Hazmat crews respond to fatal crash on I-10 near Van Horn
VAN HORN, TX – The driver of a semi-truck was killed in a multi-vehicle crash near Van Horn last Friday afternoon.
According to KFOX, the crash occurred at about 3:30 p.m. at mile marker 163.
It is unclear what caused the crash. However, the impact caused the semi-truck to overturn, trapping the driver inside and spilling hazardous materials across the roadway.
The truck driver, 63-year-old Nikolai Vidinliey, was taken to Culberson County Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. We do not know at this time if the other driver involved was injured.
This portion of I-10 was shut down for some time following the crash while Hazmat crews cleared the spilled material.
