EL PASO, TX — A 32-year-old man died late Saturday after his motorcycle struck another vehicle on U.S. Highway 54 in northeast El Paso, reports KVIA.
The accident happened on the northbound lanes near the exit to Woodrow Bean Trans Mountain at about 11:52 p.m.
According to El Paso Police, the man was riding a 2013 GSXR-R750 motorcycle northbound at a high rate of speed. As he approached two vehicles ahead, he changed lanes and tried to drive between the two occupied lanes. Shortly after, the rider lost control of his bike and hit the rear of a 2008 Honda Civic.
The impact of the crash caused the rider to eject and land on landscaping rocks between US-54 and the exit.
Authorities said the motorcyclist, a Fort Bliss resident, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He died from his injuries at the scene.
No injuries to the 18-year-old driver of the Honda were reported.
At this time, no further information has been disclosed.
